India got freedom on 15th August, 1947. We had to struggle hard for freedom. Many people laid down their lives. Thousands went to jail during the freedom struggle Then our leaders decided to form a democratic form of government. Some great leaders and learned men drafted the new Constitution. This new constitution came into force on the 26th January, 1950 and with it India became a ‘Republic’. The power of government passed into the hands of the common people.
Since then we have been celebrating it on the 26th January every year. It is celebrated all over the country.

Like every year this year also it will be celebrated 26th January 2024 with great year pomp and will show in our town. The celebrations will be startrting early in the morning.

The Constitution of the country came into force on this day. All castes, creeds and religions are to be equal in the eyes of the law. Every year, Happy Republic Day is celebrated all over the country with great enthusiasm. The national flag is unfurled at all the public buildings. A big hour function is held in Delhi. The President presides over this function. It is worth seeing. on the Republic Day is a national holiday.

There will a great enthusiasm among the people. National three-colour could be seen fluttering from all the Government buildings and important places. The Republic Day fille everyone with national pride. This function is also celebrated in New Delhi with much pomp and show. It starts from the Vijay Chowk and ends at the Red Fort. The whole program is telecast on all T.V. channels. Here the President of India takes the salute. Aeroplanes fly over the Vijay Chowk making a Tri Coloured Indian Flag. It is a sight of worth watching.
